Lots in the pipeline!

It’s a big year for pipelaying, with growth and the need for water security driving a number of water and sewer infrastructure projects throughout Queensland. Some of the major projects include:

Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline

The $983m, 117-kilometre pipeline will run from the Lower Fitzroy River in Rockhampton and connect to Gladstone Area Water Board’s existing water network at Yarwun. The pipeline comprises a water treatment plant, reservoirs and pumping stations at locations along its alignment including Laurel Bank, Alton Downs and Aldoga. The Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline will have the capacity to transport 30 gigalitres per annum from the Fitzroy River to Gladstone.

Haughton Pipeline – Stage 2

Stage 2 of the Haughton pipeline will connect and extend the existing Stage 1 pipeline from the Haughton River approximately 28km to the Burdekin River near Clare.

The $270m project will be able to transfer at least 273 megalitres per day from the Burdekin River along a 1800mm pipeline to top up water levels in the Ross River Dam for the community of Townsville during periods of water shortage.

Aura Water: comprises construction of a new water reservoir and installation of 12km of new water pipeline from the Ewen Maddock Water Treatment Plant to Aura in Caloundra South.

Aura Wastewater: includes construction of a new sewer pump station and installation of 12.5kms of new Wastewater pipeline to transfer wastewater to Kawana Wastewater Treatment Plant from Aura in Caloundra South.

Harmony Water: includes construction of a new water reservoir at Tanawha and installation of 2.6km of new water pipeline from the reservoir to Harmony in Palmview.
