Seqwater's East Bank Flood Resilience Program

Works have commenced on Seqwater's East Bank Flood Resilience Program - Civil and Enabling works.

The East Bank Flood Resilience program focuses on mitigating the flooding risk to this essential infrastructure and renewing vital assets, while paying tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the site.

The Civil and Enabling works project involves earthworks, construction of mass block retaining walls, new substation pad, provision of a new sealed access road to the new substation pad, upgrading the Eastern Access Road including conduit installation and reconfiguration of the six-way intersection.

Interestingly, the Mount Crosby Water Treatment Plants (East Bank and West Bank) supply about 50 per cent of South East Queensland’s drinking water and approvals are still underway for the next major scope of works, a new vehicle bridge over the Brisbane River. The new vehicle bridge will provide greater flood resilience than the existing weir bridge and allow access for heavy vehicles, such as school buses.
