Infrastructure Sustainability

With global concerns on climate change, resource use and pollution continuing to become more prevalent in society, infrastructure sustainability is more important than ever before. The term sustainability is often associated with environmental benefits alone, however, there is far more to it. The Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) approach to infrastructure sustainability is consistent with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and aspires to a quadruple bottom line approach. Economic, social, governance and environmental concerns are all considered when working towards an ISCA rating. Therefore, by planning to incorporate higher levels of sustainability, projects can achieve financial and social benefits as well as improving environmental outcomes. These added benefits could also be influential in the approval process at the beginning of projects.

Topo have experience working on sustainable infrastructure projects, including major Greenstar projects, and have recently become ISAP accredited though ISCA. If you or your company want to know more about infrastructure sustainability, or are working on a project with an ISCA rating and need ISAP assistance, don’t hesitate to get in contact with Topo, we would be happy to assist.
